IVR – is short for Interactive Voice Response. This describes a computer's ability to interpret Natural Speech or touch tone signals and to respond with prerecorded voice prompts over a standard telephone line. In addition to interacting in a natural sounding and personalized manner IVR applications can be programmed to incorporate elaborate logic, branching, skip patterns and triggers. IVR systems have many optional features: transfer to live third person; outbound paging; immediate faxing or E-mailing of custom information following the call; report generation; and interactive scripts written in multiple languages and presented in both genders.
